Sunday School

Dear Parents,

Would you like to have your children learn the Vedic culture in a fun-filled, hands-on atmosphere? If yes, then bring them to the Hare Krishna Sunday School. The ISKCON Calgary Temple is now offering Sunday School classes for children ages 4 through 16.  Children will be taught from a standardized Sunday School program that is used in a variety of Sunday Schools across North America, topics of which will Include: verses from the Bhagavad Gita, Devotional Practices, Who Am I? History of Srila Prabhupada, Cow Protection and Vegetarian Living and many more. The Sunday School program is designed to provide children with the sweet nectar of Krsna’s pastimes and to bring awarness of their role in the ISKCON movement in an interactive and fun loving environment.

Class registrations are generally done from the first week of August till the first week of September. However, if there are parents who are interested in registering their child in the middle of the year, they can still do so. Basically, the Sunday School functions just like your childs regular School year, the new school year starts from September.

When do classes begin?
Classes have already begun but please feel free to register your child at any time.

What time?
Classes will be held from 10:45am to 11:30am every Sunday.

What classes are taught?
The Sunday School Package is designed to take 2-3 years to complete, and the topics are as follows:

– Devotional Practices Part One, Who am I?

– Srila Prabhupada.

– Cow Protection and Vegetarian Living.

– The Appearance of Lord Jagannatha.

– Vaishnava Behavior – Animals in the Vedas.

– Lord Chaitanya’s Childhood Pastimes.

– The Adventures of Lord Rama.

– Festivals of India Part One – Devotional Practices.

– Das Avatar, Prayer, Pilgrimaage to Vraja Mandala.

  • Registration Information
  • One Sunday school session lasts 10 months, however, during the summer we may ask for children to come on Sundays to prepare for plays for big functions such as Ratha Yathra and Krsna Janamastami.
  • Registration fees are $20.00  per child every year.  Any new registration is allowed in the middle of a session.We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity for your children. Many of our other ISKCON temples have had great success with their Sunday school program, finding that the classes strengthen and reinforce Vedic upbringing. The students develop positive, spiritual friendships with other children and learn how to make Krishna Consciousness a part of their everyday life.
